In the Great Westerns Wake
This illustrated talk will look at the history of the Great Western steamer which ran from Waterford to Fishguard up to 1966 and carried many emigrants abroad for the industrial cities of the UK. The talk will focus primarily on the social history of the vessel, the cargo, passengers and crew and the company’s connection with Waterford. Andrew will also share many personal anecdotes, published reflections and memories shared by his readers over the years.
