“The Notorious Alfred Aylward 1843 to 1889 Fenian, Fighter and Fantasist” with Julian Walton

The last of the 19th series of Winter History Lectures with Julian Walton will be held on the 27th of March at 7.30pm

Alfred Aylward, a native of New Ross, played a key role in the major activities of the Fenian Brotherhood and was deported to South Africa, where he organised a miners’ rebellion and was adviser to the victorious Boer army during the war of 1880-81, then migrated to America, where he took part in the North-Western Rebellion.  Or so he claimed – but how much was true?  Come along, join this last lecture of the series and find out!
