As we prepare for Christmas, some of us may attend a performance of Handel’s Messiah. But how much do we know about Handel, why did he compose Messiah, and why was it first performed in Dublin? And there is a link to a famous Irish ghost story!

Join us for this last History Lecture for the Autumn Series II 2025 with Julian Walton. Julian is a retired schoolteacher and librarian with a lifelong interest in Waterford history. He has been Resident Historian at Dunhill since 2006.

The lecture will take place on Monday the 1st of December 2025, at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre, Block B, Dunhill Ecopark, Dunhill, Co. Waterford, Eircode X91 FVF9. You can enjoy refreshments at 10:30am and the lecture will commence at 11:00am. The admission fee is €5.
