Next of the Series of History Lectures curated by Julian Walton, will take place on Wednesday the 4th February 2026, at 19:30 will have Donald Brady as Guest Speaker.
Donald Brady, a native of Cavan, served as Waterford County Librarian from 1982 until 2010. He has edited 5 major books on Waterford history and heritage and written a further 15. His most recent publication is Regina Maria Roche, and he has just completed ground-breaking research on Dungarvan born author, Shaw Desmond (1877-1960) which should be published this year. His key concerns are: The collection and making available of the literary and historical heritage of the county; and the highlighting of this heritage including the placement of plaques, the protection, maintenance, and mapping of sites associated with historical personages.
The theme of this talk is “Some Forgotten Waterford Authors”.
