Winter Lecture : Passing the Church Plate – ‘The Coulter Alms Dishes of Christ Church, Tramore’

This week’s lecture
The topic is the silver alms ware of Christ Church Tramore which was donated in memory of a Church of Ireland family and remains in regular use. The talk will discuss the alms ware and Church plate, its origin and use, and a brief history of the family.

About Rev. Daniel Fleming
The Rev. Daniel Fleming is Curate of the Waterford Union of Parishes and lives in Tramore. He has a long-standing interest in history and in the material culture of the wider Christian faith. Daniel also serves as Curator of the Cotton Library at St. Carthage’s Cathedral, where, together with the Dean of Lismore, he began an ambitious conservation and preservation project in 2019. He led the fundraising campaign that enabled the acquisition of a rare Bedell Bible for the collection.

Daniel is a Board Member of the UK-based Cathedral Archives, Libraries and Collections Association (CALCA), and a member of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland. As one might expect, he is passionate about books and owns far too many; recently returning to full-time study has done nothing to improve the situation.

Join us on Wednesday 25th February 2026, at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre in Block B, Dunhill Ecopark, Ballyphillip, Dunhill, Co. Waterford. X91 FVF9. The lecture starts at 19:30 and it will be followed by refreshments.
