Daniel O’Connell was one of the great international advocates for the abolition of slavery in the nineteenth century. This lecture looks at this somewhat neglected aspect of his long political career, revealing him to be a man of strong principles when it came to the matter of racial equality.

Eugene Broderick is an author and historian. He is a regular lecturer in the Julian Walton lecture series.
