About this lecture

In 1972 the Irish Genealogical Research Society set up a sub-committee, of which Julian was secretary, to establish an archive of Irish tombstone inscriptions. Much was achieved over the next ten years. In particular, Julian recorded inscriptions in the older graveyards of East Waterford. In this talk he speaks of his experiences in what seems now to be a different world from that expounded in John Tierney’s lecture of 25th January.
