Lectures are held at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre (opposite the GAA grounds). 
Starting at 8 p.m., each lecture lasts about an hour and is followed by a question & answer session and light refreshments provided by Park Café.
All are welcome.  There will be an admission charge of €5 per lecture, with a reduced price of €45 for the full series of ten lectures.

New Supervised Study Option announced for September 2017

Dunhill Multi-Education Centre is delighted to offer Saturday Supervised Study in our County Waterford facility to all Junior and Leaving Certificate Students.

For just €10 per session, we offer a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning, where students are assisted and encouraged to make the most effective use of their time.

Park Café now open in Dunhill Multi-Education Centre

Park Café is now open in Dunhill Multi-Education Centre.  Serving freshly brewed coffee along with a selection of hot & cold beverages  Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.  Fresh scones are baked on site every morning and the Café serves a selection of sandwiches and soups for lunch. 

Come along and see a range of food produced in Dunhill Ecopark available to sale.  We are now taking orders for Christmas hampers, available for all budgets.  Pick a selection of locally made foods such as jams, chutneys, sauces & relishes or allow us to put together a hamper within your budget.

NUI Level 7 in Training & Continuing Education now available at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre

The Certificate in Training & Continuing Education by NUI Maynooth will run in Dunhill Multi-Education Centre commencing September 5th.  This 20 credit “Train the Trainer” course is at level 7 on the QQI National framework.  This is an exciting opportunity to complete this course locally and at a reduced cost. 

The programme costs €1250, however a reduced rate of €1100 applies as Dunhill will provide the venue.  Furthermore if you have an address in Waterford City or County, Waterford Area Partnership may contribute a further €200 to your training, bringing the cost down further to €900.   A staged payment facility will be available for tutors to facilitate access to the programme, please contact us for details.

 A ‘Train the Trainer’ Course for New and Experienced Trainers
Level 7 (20 ECTS) 
The NUI Certificate in Training and Continuing Education has been developed to the highest industry standards by a cross functional team of educators, HR and training professionals, and organisational psychologists. It focuses on delivering a high quality, relevant and widely recognised training qualification using a unique blend of face to face workshops and online learning. It is essential for trainers wishing to deliver courses up to FETAC level 6.
This course will:
Deliver a recognised qualification in a time efficient manner at an affordable price;
Give your employees  a critical understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the workplace trainer;
Equip employees with the essential competencies necessary to meet training challenges in today's changing world;
Facilitate employees in updating their skills in developments in training methodology and delivery systems;

Individuals who aspire to a career in training.
Managers and team leaders who have responsibility for training.
Organisational learning and development professionals.
Ensures that individuals who operate in a training and development role in your organisation have the skills, knowledge and methods they need.

Contributes to a supportive learning and development culture in your organisation.
Will assist in demonstrating real improvements in job performance and employee development as a result of targeted training interventions.  
Employs a blend of online learning and face to face workshops so that individuals can structure their own learning and minimize time out of the office.
Tutor expertise: our tutors are chosen based on their subject knowledge, industry experience and their ability to engage with, support and develop adult students.
Full tutor support between workshops by telephone, email and online. 
No hidden costs, the course fee includes, student registration, course materials, examinations, access to the University’s online learning platform, access to all of the University’s student services and facilities and the certificate. 

The Certificate consists of four mandatory modules. 
1. Assessing Training and Development Needs.

2. Designing a Training Programme.

3. Training Delivery.

4. Training Evaluation and Contemporary Trends.

Be able to describe the roles and responsibilities of a trainer, differentiate between a trainer and a facilitator, and understand and describe the systematic approach to training.  Be familiar with the primary models of training.  Understand job analysis and job design and learn to write and interpret a job description.  Understand the concept of training needs analysis, which is often a necessary step to take when designing and developing any training programme. 

Describe the main theories of learning and the adult learning cycle.  Describe the main theories of motivation and the relationship between learning and motivation.  Write training objectives.  Design a training syllabus and training plan.  Be familiar with the types of training methods and their advantages and disadvantages.

Decide on the structure, content and sequence of the training.  Write a session plan.  Plan and deliver a presentation using visual aids.  Plan and deliver a demonstration.  Understand the importance of verbal and non verbal communication, and identify what is effective listening  Be familiar with different training styles and identify your preferred trainer style.  Understand what is meant by socialisation.  Manage difficult participants and encourage participation. 

Design effective assessment for training.  Understand the concept of ‘transfer of training’.  Develop an evaluation strategy for your training programme.  Give and receive effective feedback.  Be familiar with e-learning, its main benefits and drawbacks.  Be aware of contemporary trends in training and continuing education.  

The Certificate in Training and Continuing Education is a standalone qualification however when combined with the NUI Certificate in Equality Studies (On Line) and the NUI Certificate in Communications and Group Skills for Managers it forms part of the Diploma in Arts for Socially Inclusive Workplaces. This suite of CPD courses provide a comprehensive educational/training package in core skills such as managing organisational change, conflict, equality, and diversity for Team Leaders, Managers and Learning and Development Specialists.

New Tourism Trails with Smart Media, starting soon!

Do you love nature, trails, hiking and all outdoor adventures? Do you want to learn how to develop your own tourism business, understand trail development and recreational outdoor activities?

If you are currently unemployed and looking for full time training, then talk to us.  Dunhill Multi Education Centre in conjunction with Waterford Wexford ETB are offering a funded course in trail development, tourism and outdoor recreation.

This exciting new Tourism Trail with Smart MediaTraining Programme will commence in October 2017. No fees apply. Eligible participants in receipt of a social protection payment will receive a training allowance.
