Eugene Broderick: Ireland's Magdalene Laundries - Julian Walton's Winter Lecture Series

Magdalene laundries: We have all heard of them but what were they really about? This lecture examines their origins and purposes in the eighteenth century and their subsequent development. Particular reference will be made to Waterford's laundries.

Eugene Broderick is a history graduate of University College, Cork. He is the author of a number of books and articles on various aspects of Irish and Waterford history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He is a regular contributor to the Julian Walton Lecture Series.

This lecture takes place on Thursday 29th February at 7.30 pm at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre and it will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Light refreshments will also be served.

Julian Walton and Guests Winter Lecture Series is back with a 2024 edition starting on the 11th of January. The first lecture's theme is:
“Waterford, the real ‘Banner County’? Local politics, 1824-1832”

SafePass Training

Dunhill Multi-Education Centre will be the hosting venue for WWETB's SafePass training initiative on the 19th of September.

Topics covered: Health and Safety at Work regulations, accident reporting and emergency procedures, accident prevention, health & hygiene, techniques for lifting & carrying, working safely at heights, underground services and overhead electric cables, using hand-held equipment, personal protective equipment, vehicles & mobile plant and excavations & confined spaces.

SafePass Training March 2024

Register now for the SafePass one-day health and safety awareness programme on the 26th of March in Dunhill, Co. Waterford.

The course aims to improve your knowledge and awareness of health & safety standards and practices. It is a must-have in construction and ancillary industries.

Special Needs Assisting training

Dunhill Multi-Education Centre will be hosting the Special Needs Assisting Training 5N1786 on behalf and delivered by the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board.

This QQI Level 5 accredited module enables participants to understand the practice and principles of assisting those with additional needs. The course runs over 8 weeks, two evenings a week from 6pm to 9pm.
